Canara Bank Q3 FY2025-26 net profit up 26% YoY to ₹5,254 crore as NIMs, fee income and asset quality improve

Summary:

  • Standalone net profit for Q3 FY2025-26 rose to about ₹5,155 crore from ₹4,104 crore a year earlier, while consolidated profit after minority interest climbed to roughly ₹5,254 crore, underpinned by stronger core income and lower credit costs.

  • Net interest income and other income grew on the back of 5–7% year-on-year expansion in advances, higher treasury and fee income, and operating profit before provisions increased to about ₹9,119 crore despite a larger cost base.

  • Asset quality strengthened further, with the gross NPA ratio easing to about 2.1% and net NPA ratio to around 0.45%, driving provision coverage above 94% and keeping credit costs contained.

  • Capital and liquidity remain comfortable, with consolidated CET1 ratio around 16.5%, total capital adequacy above 18%, leverage and liquidity coverage within regulatory buffers, and incremental growth funded without stressing the balance sheet.

  • The Board approved the unaudited standalone and consolidated Q3 and 9M FY2025-26 results, confirmed nil deviations in use of capital-market proceeds, and disclosed continued capital optimisation via issuance and redemption of Basel III AT1 and Tier II bonds.
